Growing and playing

I am getting so big.  Mom took me to the doctor last month for my check up and for some shots.  Mom says I am in the 99th percentile for height and the 80th percentile for weight.  Since we went to the doctor, I don't get to drink as much milk in the day and I don't like that.  Milk is my favorite thing to eat, and sometimes I get mad when Mom won't give me more.  Whenever I want milk I get a cup out of the cupboard and take it to Mom.  She puts water in it instead of milk and I cry and say "Ma, ma".

I have so many teeth now.  I have six of my front ones and 3 of the very back ones.  I am getting another one in now and it hurts my mouth.  Sometimes I don't want to go to bed because my mouth hurts, but Mom and Dad help me feel better so I can sleep.

I really like to go on walks.  If Mom and Dad leave the stroller out of the closet and I find it, I always try to climb into it.  It is pretty tall, though, and hard to climb into.  I am really good about climbing into all sorts of things, but that one is hard.  Sometimes my foot gets stuck and Mom has to help me get out.

Books are some of my favorite toys.  I find a good book and sit on Mom's lap.  If somebody else is on her lap, I push them away and then I turn around and sit down.  I like to point to a lot of the things in the book and practice words I am learning.  I am getting better at using words, but Mom doesn't understand me a lot of the time.  I guess I need to practice more.  I really like to practice my words, also, when I am in my bed trying to go to sleep.  I like to tell stories and sometimes sing songs.

Every morning when I wake up Mom comes and gets me and one of the first things I want to do it go see Logan and wake him up.  He likes to make me laugh.

My favorite game is "peek-a-boo".  I like to stand behind a doorway, peek around at Mom or Dad and say "boo".  Sometimes when there is nobody to hide behind I put my hands or my blanket on my head.  When I show my face I say "boo!" and laugh and laugh.

Mom's Snugglebug

Whenever I am sad and want to be held, I grab my blanket and say "Momomdad".  Mom usually comes and picks me up and holds me then.  I like it.

Although I don't say very many words, I understand a lot of words.  Mom tells me to get my shoes or my cup and I go get it.  When Mom says it's time to eat, I go stand by my chair so Mom can put me into my chair.  When she says "let's play with toys", I put out my favorite toys and show Mom.

My favorite games to play are peek-a-boo and patty-cake.  I clap my hands and roll them at all the right times.  It's so fun.  I also really love to sing and dance.  I look at Mom and bob my head or dance whenever we hear music, even at the store.

I really love to snuggle with people and with my blanket.  Sometimes Mom holds me and asks me for a snuggle and I put my head on her shoulder and my arms around her and we snuggle.  I like to take a blanket with me wherever I go.

My blanket

I love my blankets.  I like to take one with me wherever I go - when I am walking around the house, when I go to daycare, when we go on walks outside, even when I eat (but Mom usually tries to take my blanket away then).  When I have my blanket, I always have something to snuggle with.  I really like to snuggle.

Playing with toys is so fun.  I especially like books and cars.  I like to play with Logan.  Usually we have a lot of fun, but sometimes he is mean to me and he kicks me or hits me.  He thinks he's just playing and thinks it is funny.  I don't like it, though, and I try to tell him.  Mom sometimes has to put Logan in timeout when he picks on me.  Usually we play really well, though, and have a lot of fun.  My favorite is when we go outside and I chase Logan and then he chases me.  I think it is so funny and I just laugh and laugh.  I really like to go outside and play.  I go to the door and look at Mom to ask her if we can go outside.  Sometimes we do and sometimes we don't, but I always like to ask.

I have had trouble sleeping lately.  I wake up in the night and want to be held and snuggled by mommy.  Sometimes she snuggles me, and sometimes I fall back asleep.  Mom thinks maybe I am getting some more teeth - I only have four right now.

I am starting to learn some sounds and words.  I can say "nana" for banana, "dah" for dog or cat, "bah" for ball and "mom" and "da".  Mom gets so happy when I use words that I say them over and over and over again.  It is so much fun.

Shoes and Dancing

I really like clothes and shoes.  When I find clothes on the floor, I pick them up and walk around with them.  When I see my shoes, I bring them to Mom so she can put them on my feet.  Sometimes they fall off and I take give the shoe back to Mom to put on my feet.

I love to walk and play, but don't like it when I am stuck.  I don't like it very much when Mom buckles me into the car.  I don't get to move and I don't get to play.  Logan makes me laugh in the car, sometimes, though, so he makes it more fun.  I now face forward like Mom and Logan do in the car.  I like this.  Logan doesn't put his shoe on me anymore when we are driving.  I hated it when Logan did that.

Dancing is so much fun.  Sometimes Mom has music playing in the kitchen.  Sometimes my toys my music.  Sometimes Mom, Dad, or Courtney start singing songs.  I really love it and almost always dance to the music (unless I am really tired).  Sometimes I make my own music and bop my head singing "Na, na.  Na, na".  Mom sings with me.

I am learning to make all sorts of funny sounds with my mouth.  Logan and Mom teach me.  I now sometimes like to stick my tongue out.  It's so funny.  I just laugh and laugh.

I turned one!!

Two weeks ago I had my birthday.  I had a lot of fun playing with my cousins.  I got to eat a cupcake and play with my new toys.  Logan shows me how to play with my toys.  It was a lot of fun to see so much of my family.

Right now, I am having trouble sleeping well at night.  I wake up and cry because my mouth really hurts.  I hope it doesn't last very long.  I really like to sleep.

Lately I have gone all sorts of places with my family.  Check out some of my adventures:

The dinosaur museum

The zoo

Now that I am over a year old, I definitely have some favorites.  Here's some of my favorites:

  • Milk, noodles, peas, bananas (I really like to feed myself - I take the spoon from Mom if she is trying to put it in my mouth and I do the job myself)
  • Car toys
  • Walking with Mom and Dad and holding their hand
  • Dancing when Daddy plays music on his guitar
  • Slides and swings
  • Snuggling with Mom
Things I definitely don't like:
  • Ice cream
  • When Mom walks away and I want her to hold me or help me.  (I put my face on the ground on cry)
  • Trying to crawl when wearing a dress.  I always get stuck on it.

Food

I really like to eat.  Sometimes when Mom tries to feed me, I get frustrated because I really just want to feed myself.  Sometimes she gives me the spoon, especially when we are having yogurt.  Sometimes when I eat I say "mmmmmm" when we are eating something really good.  Logan does that, so I copied him.  It's kinda fun and it makes everybody laugh and then I laugh.

Daddy took this video two days after my burn.  It really hurt, but I am mostly better now.  I sometimes itch, but not too bad.  I can take baths again and I don't have to wear itchy bandages.

I am also learning to walk.  I was doing really good at it until I got burned and then I just wanted to be snuggled.  Now I am trying it again.  I like to make everybody cheer and smile at me when I walk.  It's a lot of fun.

Some animals I really like and some animals really scare me.  We saw the birds at the zoo and it was so much fun I just wanted to pet them and talk to them.  I saw a cat and dogs at my great-grandma's house and they were really scary.  If they got too close to me I started crying and screaming for Mom to come and save  me.

Important Events

Today, I'm just going to tell you a few important things that have happened so far in my life:
  1. July 20, 2011 I was born at about 6:30 in the morning.  I weighed 7 lbs 15 oz and was 19 inches long.  Mom says I was beautiful with chubby cheeks and dark hair and I came out looking perfect.  Mom also says that if all babies came as easily as I did, people would have a lot more babies.  She thinks I'm pefect.  I stayed at the hospital two nights, and then I got to come home.  My brother was always trying to give me hugs.  He still tries to give me hugs a lot and he smashes me, but he also sometimes gets mad at me now when I want to play with my toys or get snuggles from Mom when he wants to get snuggles.
  2. 2 months: Mom started going to work and I went to daycare.  I had a lot of fun there.  Now it's summer and I get to play with Mom a lot more.  I really like that, too.
  3. 4 months: started rolling over.  I didn't like to just lay there and do nothing.  I was always trying to wiggle and squirm.  I learned to roll over pretty quickly.  Soon after that, I started trying to move places.  I got pretty good, but it was a lot easier when I started crawling.
  4. 4 1/2 month:  I got to start eating all sorts of other foods.  I really like food.  My favorites right now are mac and cheese, bananas, and noodles.
  5. 6 months: crawling.  From about 5 1/2 months to 6 months old, I was crawling on my elbows with my tummy on the floor (army crawling), but I found out that I can go a lot faster when I learned to crawl for real.  For a long time I would crawl on my left knee and my right foot and get around really quickly that way (I still like to climb stairs like that), but eventually I started putting both knees on the ground.
  6. 9 months: I stopped eating off of Mom.  I liked eating off Mom, but it comes out of a bottle easier, so I really like bottles.  I would eat so much at daycare in a bottle that Mom would sometimes get frustrated because I didn't want to eat as much at home.  I like to eat formula, too, though.  I am not picky with my food.
  7. 9 1/2 months: get my first teeth.  Mom thought this took a long time because Logan got his first teeth when he was only 4 1/2 months.  I am now up to 2 teeth (the bottom center two).
  8. 10 1/2 months: take my first steps.  I would take about 6 steps from Dad to Mom and then back to Dad and keep going back and forth.  At first, I wasn't very good and I would fall forward while trying to keep my feet under me.  Then I got really good and now I can stand without holding anything.  I can also walk better now, but I don't walk as much now since I got hurt.  I like to snuggle more with Mom and be a lot more careful.
